Limerick NCT rust failure — what to do next

Limerick NCT centres are strict on corrosion — especially on chassis rails, sills and subframe mounts. If you've failed, don't panic; 90% of these fails are fixable in one workshop visit.

Photograph the fail sheet

Before you leave the NCT centre, photograph the fail advisory sheet. Send it to us on WhatsApp along with photos of the rusty area. We'll tell you if it's repairable and what it'll cost.

What a re-test pass looks like

• Cut out the rotten steel back to solid metal
• MIG weld new plate to correct gauge
• Seam seal and prime
• Two coats underseal
• Cavity wax the inside of the box section
