Vehicle raised on a ramp for an underbody inspection before an undersealing quote
Undersealing & Chassis Work — Ireland

Car Underseal Cost Ireland

We do not publish a price list, because no two underbodies are the same. Here is exactly what determines the cost of undersealing, rustproofing and chassis repair — and how to get a firm quote for your own vehicle.

How Quotes Are Worked Out

What affects the cost of undersealing

Undersealing is a labour job before it is a coating job. Most of the cost sits in preparation — cleaning, rust treatment and, where needed, cutting out and replacing metal. These are the factors we assess on every vehicle.

Vehicle type and size

A small hatchback has a fraction of the underbody area of a Land Cruiser, Transit or horsebox. Surface area drives both material use and labour.

Existing rust and corrosion

Light surface rust is treated quickly. Flaking, scaled or perforated metal has to be cut back to sound steel first, which adds hours.

Preparation required

Underbody cleaning, degreasing and drying is the single biggest factor in how long a coating lasts — and how long the job takes. Heavily caked farm or coastal vehicles need far more prep.

Existing coatings

Old, failed underseal or loose factory coating usually has to be removed before new product goes on. Sealing over a failing coating traps moisture underneath.

Welding or repair needed

If inspection shows rotted outriggers, sills, crossmembers or chassis rails, structural welding is a separate piece of work. Whether a chassis is repairable depends entirely on its condition on the ramp.

Treatment specified

Underbody underseal, cavity wax injection into box sections, or both. Cavity work adds time but reaches the areas that rot from the inside out.

Access and strip-down

Some vehicles need arch liners, undertrays, tanks or heat shields removed to reach the metal properly. That time is part of the job.

What a quote is based on

Real Rayco work — the condition we find on the ramp is what sets the price, not a generic category.

FAQs

Cost questions

How much does car undersealing cost in Ireland?

There is no single figure — the cost depends on the size of the vehicle, how much rust and old coating has to come off, and whether any welding is needed. We inspect the vehicle (or your photos) and give you a firm quote before any work starts. No work is ever carried out without you approving the quote first.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes. WhatsApp clear photos of the underside, sills and chassis rails to 087 919 2193 and we can give you a realistic assessment before you travel. A final quote is confirmed once the vehicle is on the ramp.

Why do you not publish a price list?

Because a fixed list would be misleading. Two vehicles of the same model can be hours apart in prep depending on their condition. We would rather quote your vehicle honestly than advertise a number that changes once it is on the ramp.

Is there a charge for the inspection?

We offer a free chassis check — we put the vehicle up, show you what we find and explain what does and does not need doing.

Does chassis welding cost more than undersealing?

Welding is quoted separately from undersealing because it depends on how much metal has to be cut out and fabricated. Suitability for repair is assessed on the ramp; not every chassis is worth repairing, and we will tell you straight if that is the case.

Do you quote before starting work?

Always. You get the quote, you approve it, then work begins.
