Why It Matters

Protect your investment before rust takes hold

Your campervan is more than just a vehicle — it's your freedom, travel, and home on wheels. Irish weather, coastal air, rain, and salted roads can cause serious rust and corrosion underneath your vehicle over time. Rayco Undersealing helps protect your chassis and underside with professional rust prevention and underbody protection solutions trusted across Ireland.

Everything that goes into a Rayco motorhome underseal — from chassis welding to premium coatings and long-term warranty.

Campervan Undersealing

Full underbody protection tailored to camper conversions, panel vans and coachbuilt motorhomes.

Chassis Rust Protection

Deep-penetrating treatments that seal chassis rails, cross-members and outriggers from the inside out.

Welding & Rust Repairs

Cut out the rot and weld in fresh metal before sealing — no cover-ups, no glass fibre patches.

Long-Term Corrosion Prevention

Slow-curing coatings that stay flexible and keep working through Irish winters for years to come.

Premium Protective Coatings

Industrial-grade underseal and cavity wax used by professionals, not DIY aerosols.

Our Process

Built for Irish roads & weather

Our process is designed specifically for harsh Irish conditions. We thoroughly inspect, clean, prepare, and protect vulnerable areas underneath your campervan to help extend its lifespan and reduce long-term corrosion risks.

01

Inspection

Full underside inspection on the ramp — chassis, sills, floor pan, water tank mounts, body mounts and habitation box.

02

Preparation & Cleaning

Pressure wash, degrease, scrape and clean back to sound metal so coatings actually bond.

03

Rust Treatment & Repairs

Surface rust treated and converted. Any rotten sections cut out and welded with fresh metal to NCT standard.

04

Protective Underseal Application

Cavity wax into chassis rails, then heavy-duty underseal across the full underbody. Cured, checked and signed off.

Our Warranty

Up To 7 Years Warranty

We stand over our workmanship and protection systems with up to 7 years warranty available on selected services. That's the confidence we have in our prep, our welding and the premium coatings we apply.

Camper Conversion Ireland

RSA modifications report & engineer's report

Converting a van into a campervan in Ireland? Reclassifying with Revenue or the NCTS usually requires a qualified engineer's report covering the conversion work, structural changes and underbody condition. Rayco carries out the structural side of the job and arranges the supporting documentation.

Engineer's report — work done

Detailed written report on the chassis welding, rust repair and underbody protection completed during your camper conversion. Suitable for insurance, finance and vehicle category change.

RSA modifications report

Documentation a qualified engineer needs to sign off RSA / Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) style modifications — required when reclassifying a panel van to a campervan with Revenue and the NCTS.

  • Structural chassis welding to engineer-grade
  • Underbody and cavity protection records
  • Photos before, during and after the work
  • Materials and process documentation
  • Liaison with your qualified engineer
  • Suitable for camper category change in Ireland

Note: the engineer's report itself is issued by an independent qualified automotive engineer. Rayco carries out and documents the structural work, then liaises with the engineer so the report reflects what was actually done.

FAQ

Campervan undersealing questions

Why is campervan undersealing important?+

Campervans and motorhomes spend long periods parked outdoors, often near the coast. Moisture, salted roads and condensation under the floor accelerate corrosion on the chassis, sills and body mounts. Underbody protection seals these areas so rust can't take hold and ruin a vehicle worth tens of thousands of euro.

How long does undersealing last?+

When properly prepped and applied, our premium underseal systems last for years. We back selected services with up to 7 years warranty. A light re-coat every few years keeps the protection at its best, especially if you drive on salted winter roads.

Do you repair rust before undersealing?+

Yes — always. Painting over rust is the fastest way to make it worse. We treat surface rust and weld in fresh metal where panels or chassis sections have rotted, then prime and underseal so the repair is sealed for the long term.

Is this suitable for imported campervans?+

Absolutely. We see a lot of UK, German and Japanese imports. Imports often arrive with surface rust starting on the chassis — getting them treated and sealed early protects your investment before Irish winters get to them.

How often should I protect my campervan?+

A full professional underseal lasts years. For vehicles driven through winter or stored outdoors near the coast, a quick inspection every 2–3 years and a top-up coat is ideal. We can book you in for a check-up at any time.

Does Irish weather cause rust faster?+

Yes. Constant damp, coastal salt air and winter road salt are some of the worst conditions in Europe for underbody corrosion. That's exactly why a proper Irish-grade underseal makes such a difference compared to a factory coating.

Do you provide an engineer's report for a camper conversion?+

Yes — for camper conversions in Ireland, Rayco can arrange a qualified engineer's report covering the work carried out: chassis welding, structural repairs, underbody protection and any modifications made during the conversion. The report is suitable for revenue, insurance and vehicle category change submissions.

Can you supply an RSA modification report?+

Yes. When we carry out structural welding, chassis repairs or modifications as part of a camper conversion, we can provide the documentation a qualified engineer needs to issue an RSA / Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) style modifications report. This is often required when reclassifying a panel van to a campervan in Ireland.
